October has a way of making the ordinary world feel a little more enchanted. The mornings arrive wrapped in mist, leaves gather along the sidewalks, and the evenings invite us indoors a little earlier. There is something comforting about this time of year. The sound of rain against the windows, a warm cup of tea, a favourite book waiting to be opened, and the familiar pleasure of slowing down.
It is also a season of mystery and imagination. Perhaps that is why the Raven feels so perfectly at home in October. With its glossy black feathers, curious nature, and centuries of stories woven around it, the Raven seems to belong somewhere between the natural world and the pages of an old storybook.
This month's Enchanted Postmark envelopes travelled from Nova Scotia to mailboxes near and far carrying original Raven artwork, postcards, a little literary stationery surprise, and an invitation to find some everyday magic in the changing season.
The October Theme: A Little Autumn Mystery
There is something wonderful about allowing a little mystery into our everyday lives. Not everything needs to be explained or understood. Sometimes it is enough to be curious, to wonder, and to notice the small things that might otherwise pass us by.
A feather discovered along a woodland path.
The rustle of leaves on a quiet afternoon.
An old book with a handwritten inscription inside its cover.
A letter arriving unexpectedly from someone far away.
These are the little moments that remind us how much wonder can be found in ordinary life. October's collection was inspired by this feeling of curiosity and enchantment, along with my love of old books, beautiful paper, and the stories we collect throughout our lives. After all, every handwritten letter is a little story of its own.
And every envelope holds a small mystery until we open it.
Meet the Raven
Few birds have captured the human imagination quite like the Raven. With its deep black feathers, remarkable intelligence, and distinctive voice, the Raven has appeared in folklore, mythology, poetry, and storytelling for centuries. Often associated with mystery and transformation, Ravens have a reputation for being rather magical creatures.
But beyond their mysterious appearance, Ravens are wonderfully intelligent and curious birds. They can solve problems, remember faces, engage in playful behaviour, and form lasting social bonds. I especially love that playful side of their personalities. Beneath those dramatic black feathers is a bird filled with curiosity and character. For October's collection, I wanted to capture both sides of the Raven: its mysterious beauty and its lively, inquisitive spirit.
A little darkness, a little magic, and perhaps a reminder to remain curious about the world around us.
Inside the October Raven Snail Mail Collection
Each Enchanted Postmark dispatch is thoughtfully created around a featured bird and a seasonal theme. The artwork, postcards, personal letter, and little paper surprises are designed to feel like pieces of one story, arriving together in an envelope that invites you to slow down and enjoy a few quiet moments.
An Original 5 × 7 Raven Art Print
At the heart of October's collection is an original Raven art print inspired by the mysterious beauty of this remarkable bird. The Raven feels especially suited to autumn, when bare branches, darker evenings, and changing skies give the landscape a different kind of beauty.
The print can be framed, displayed on a bookshelf, tucked into a journal, or added to your growing collection of Enchanted Postmark birds.
I love imagining these monthly prints becoming a little record of the seasons, each one holding a memory of the time of year when it arrived.
Two Original Raven Postcards
October's dispatch also included two original Raven postcards, created to celebrate the beauty and character of this fascinating bird. You might keep them as part of your stationery collection, add them to an autumn journal, or send them travelling to someone who shares your love of birds, nature, and a little mystery.
Perhaps one could carry a favourite autumn poem.
Another might hold a note to a friend you haven't written to in a while.
There is something particularly lovely about receiving a handwritten postcard in autumn, when the days are growing shorter and a few kind words can bring a little unexpected warmth.
October's Stationery Surprise: Ex Libris Bookplates
Tucked inside October's envelope was a little surprise inspired by another of my favourite things: books. This month's stationery surprise was a collection of Ex Libris bookplates, little decorative labels traditionally placed inside the front cover of a book to identify its owner.
Ex Libris is Latin for "from the books of," and bookplates have a long history of marking the treasured volumes in personal libraries.
I have always loved the idea of books carrying little traces of the people who have owned and loved them.
A name written carefully inside the cover.
A note left between the pages.
A bookplate that makes an ordinary book feel like part of someone's personal collection.
October's bookplates were created to bring a little of that old-fashioned literary charm into your own library.
You can write your name on them and place them inside your favourite books, use them to personalize a journal, or add one to a book you're giving as a gift.
I especially love the idea of using them in journals, where they can become a small reminder that our own thoughts, memories, and stories are worth keeping, too.
Sometimes the smallest pieces of stationery have a way of making ordinary things feel a little more special.
The October Letter
Every Enchanted Postmark dispatch includes a personal letter from me, and October's letter embraced the mysterious beauty of the season. It was inspired by the changing autumn landscape, the curious nature of Ravens, and the quiet pleasures of spending time with books, paper, and our own imaginations.
There is something about October that makes me want to gather my favourite things close, light a candle, open a notebook, and spend a little more time creating. I hope this month's collection offered a small invitation to do the same.
To slow down, follow your curiosity, and find a little enchantment in the everyday.
A Little More Wonder in Your Mailbox
One of my favourite things about creating Enchanted Postmark is imagining these little collections arriving in mailboxes and becoming part of someone's day.
Perhaps an art print finds a place on a bookshelf.
A postcard travels across the country to brighten a friend's afternoon.
Or a tiny bookplate becomes part of a much-loved journal.
These small pieces of paper have a way of connecting us to memories, stories, and one another.
If you miss the feeling of finding something personal waiting among the bills and flyers, Enchanted Postmark was made for you. Each month, a new bird-inspired collection travels from Nova Scotia to mailboxes near and far, filled with original artwork, postcards to send or keep, a personal letter, and little stationery surprises chosen to inspire creativity and connection.
It's a gentle invitation to slow down, put pen to paper, and find a little more magic in ordinary days.
